There is one thing we ALL have in common. No matter:

  • who our parents are;

  • where we were born;

  • what the color of our skin is;

  • what history we have in our past;

  • what our current circumstances are.

The common thread we share is SIN.  The bible tells us that all of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).  Every decision we make and every action we take has consequences. The consequences, or as the bible states it,wages, of our sin is DEATH (Romans 6:23).  Sadly, there is nothing that we can do to save ourselves from this wage  we’ve earned for our choices.  That would be a pretty depressing thought if that were the end of it.  Fortunately, that’s not the end of it.  God has a plan.

God’s plan includes a relationship with each of us. God tells us in the bible, His Word, that He doesn’t want any of us to perish (John 10:28). But God, being perfect in every way, can’t have a relationship with anyone who is not perfect. So what happens now? How can God have a relationship with us when His Word says none of us are perfect?

God loved the world so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to receive the punishment we deserved for our sin (John 3:16). Jesus, who never sinned, sacrificed his mortal life to cover the required death-wage for us through His death on a rugged Roman cross.  Once that death-wage was paid, Jesus raised Himself from the dead and is alive with us today through the presence of His Holy Spirit. God’s desire to provide an unbreakable path to a relationship with Him meant there was no sacrifice too great. Not even the sacrifice of His only Son.

God did this for us so that we could have a relationship with Him. That’s it, simply accept the fact that Jesus died and rose from the grave to forgive me and you from our sins and we will be saved. Saved from what? From eternal separation from God. We have only this life to receive this salvation. If we die a mortal death before we receive this gift, we lose it for eternity. However, when we accept it, we can begin to live a victorious life now! And even though we will still face a mortal death, we can never be separated from the love of God because of our relationship with Jesus, The Christ. Jesus said, “I have come that you may have life and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)

Is there anything or anyone standing in the way of you accepting this relationship that God offers?  Is there any sacrifice too great for you to have a relationship with God?  GOOD NEWS! God will accept you just as you are! There’s no sin so great that God won’t forgive you.  All you have to do is accept the gift He is offering.  The way you do that is as simple as A-B-C:

  1. ADMIT you are a sinner and that you understand you can’t do anything to fix it or clean it up by yourself.

  2. BELIEVE that Jesus is the Son of God. Believe that He gave His life for you. Believe that he died and rose from the dead, alive.

  3. CONFESS your sins to Jesus. Confess that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9).

If you did these things, you are saved and have eternal life in Heaven; starting now!  Get in a bible-teaching church and begin living the life God intended for YOU all along.
